The US authorities have charged a member of the National Security Agency (NSA) with the illegal transfer of highly confidential material out of the workplace.
The 31-year-old Nguya Huang Phu, who was born in Vietnam and worked for 10 years in the cracking unit, pleaded guilty to one charge, the transfer of highly classified documents from the agency and keeping them at his home in Elkut City, Maryland, the Justice Department said.
According to the New York Times, the Faux computer was hacked after using a program produced by Russian company Kaspersky Lab, apparently allowing Russian hackers to steal files and programs developed by the National Security Agency for its own hacking operations.
The Ministry of Justice said that Fu took digital and printed copies of classified documents containing sensitive "national defense information" and kept them in his home from 2010 until his capture in 2015.
The Ministry gave no details as to why it did so, nor did it mention whether Fu had disclosed or lost any of the documents.
Fu faces the possibility of being sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment, but he can still negotiate a mild sentence.
Vo is the third NSA employee charged in the past two years with the transfer of classified information to his home.
