US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has refused to send senior diplomats to a major forum in India because of President Ivanka's daughter, the US television channel CNN reported.
The channel quoted foreign and White House sources as saying that Tilerson's decision stemmed from his negative stance on Ivanka and his reluctance to support her mission at the World Entrepreneurship Summit scheduled for next week.
It is worth mentioning that by participating in this summit at the head of the American delegation, Ivanka will appear at the highest level in representing her country internationally.
A source in the Foreign Ministry said: "No one who holds a higher position than the deputy assistant minister is allowed to participate in the upcoming event." The minister and his senior staff insisted that coordination be made with them on all matters related to travel, even the most precise details.
The source pointed out that the talk is about a "new rift" between the White House and Foreign Affairs.
Another source said that Tilerson, who is supposed to be the head of US diplomacy, does not like the fact that Ivanka and her husband Jared Kouchner "jump over his head" for a long time.
Trump had already given a vague answer to a question on whether he would keep Tillerson in office until the end of his term, although he indicated that Tilerson was "doing everything he could" as Secretary of State.
Tillerson, who had denied last month that he was resigning because of disagreements with Trump, said his relationship with the president was good.
