The United States Navy has found eight people, alive, of crew and passengers of a plane that crashed in the Pacific Sea in the Pacific Ocean south-east of the Japanese island of Okinawa.
The Seventh Fleet, a US naval unit stationed at a base near the Japanese city of Yokosuka, said in a statement issued today that as a result of search and rescue operations launched after the crash of cargo plane "Grumman Sea-2 Krhund" southeast of Okinawa at about 14:45 Eight of the 11 people aboard were flown to the USS Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier for treatment and are in good health.
The search for the rest of the plane is still ongoing, while the US Navy opened an investigation into the incident, according to the statement.
US President Donald Trump, through his Twitter account, said he was following the crash.
The incident was the second of its kind this week. A US military T-38 Talon military plane crashed two days ago in Texas on the border with Mexico, killing one of its commanders.
